Books for Ghana

Tuscaloosa Sister Cities International is excited to facilitate the "Books for Ghana" initiative, a community-driven program aimed at supporting literacy in our sister cities, Sunyani and Techiman, Ghana. This important project involves book donations from a variety of local partners, including The House, a Stillman College-based nonprofit literacy group, Tuscaloosa City Schools librarians, and the Tuscaloosa Public Library. In addition, the initiative receives generous support from the Tuscaloosa community.

Through "Books for Ghana," two large shipments of books are sent each year to provide essential literacy resources to children and adults in Sunyani and Techiman. These donations offer greater access to educational materials, helping to foster a love of reading and learning in both cities. The program hopes to play a role in improving literacy rates and educational opportunities, making a lasting impact on individuals and communities.
